Hindi language and literature has seen a remarkable growth in Haryana due to Hindi medium option in educational institutions up to postgraduate level; role of television, newspapers, etc. along with government efforts through Haryana Sahitya Akademi and Haryana Granth Akademi. Despite contributions to growth of the language, Haryanvi-Hindi, a dialect of Hindi, has some significant deviations in pronunciation. These deviations are visible in the pronunciation of vowels as well as consonants. Word’s initial, medial and final positions also cause changes in pronunciation of Haryanvi. Based on this analysis, argues that education may or may not contribute to change in language but rural influence was one of the factors influencing the change.
